Iranian Lasagna (Lazaniya Irani)
"Indulge in a decadent, multi-layered masterpiece that fuses Italian tradition with the bold, savory, and nostalgic flavors of Iranian street-style comfort food."
Instructions
Dice the sausage or bologna and sauté with fried onion in a pan for a short time. Add a pinch of salt and pepper.
Sauté the ground meat with a little salt and pepper in another pan until its color changes.
Bring water to a boil in a pot, add a tablespoon of oil and a tablespoon of salt. Boil the lasagna sheets until soft, then drain and rinse with cold water to prevent sticking.
Grease an ovenproof rectangular dish and lay a sheet of lasagna inside. Pour a layer of tomato sauce over it and add a portion of the meat mixture.
Sprinkle chopped mushrooms and bell pepper over the meat layer, then sprinkle some shredded pizza cheese on top.
Place another layer of lasagna on top and repeat the process by adding tomato sauce, mushrooms, bell pepper, and remaining meat. Add more cheese and place several lasagna sheets over it.
After layering the lasagna, ensure a layer of tomato sauce is on top. Arrange remaining ingredients over the lasagna sheets and sprinkle the remaining cheese and crushed butter on the surface.
Sprinkle thyme over it and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for 30 to 45 minutes until the surface turns golden brown.
