Milk and Lentil Soup (Soup-e Shir va Adas)

Instructions
Step 1: Cook the lentils in a pot with water until they become soft and the water is fully evaporated.
Step 2: In a pan, melt the butter over medium heat and add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onions are soft and golden.
Step 3: Add the turmeric to the onions and sauté for one more minute.
Step 4: Gradually add the water and milk to the onion and turmeric mixture, bringing it to a boil.
Step 5: Add the cooked lentils to the soup and stir well.
Step 6: Once the soup begins to boil, reduce the heat and let it simmer gently to thicken.
Step 7: Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 8: Garnish the soup with fresh herbs when serving.
