Quick Microwave Peach Compote

Instructions
Wash the peaches thoroughly, then peel, pit, and cut them into evenly sized pieces for uniform cooking.
Place the peach pieces in a deep, microwave-safe dish. Add a small amount of water to prevent sticking and to create steam.
Cover the dish loosely and microwave on full power (100%) for 4–5 minutes, until the peaches begin to soften.
Remove the dish carefully, add the sugar, and stir gently so the peaches are evenly coated.
Return the dish to the microwave and cook on full power for another 4–6 minutes, stirring once halfway through, until the peaches are very tender and a light syrup forms.
Let the compote rest for about 1 minute before serving; it will thicken slightly as it cools.
