Quick Microwave Spiced Apple Compote

Instructions
Place the sliced apples in a deep, microwave-safe dish, spreading them out evenly.
Pour the water over the apples. Cover the dish loosely to allow steam to escape.
Microwave on full power (100%) for 4–5 minutes, until the apples begin to soften.
Carefully remove the dish. Add the sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and butter, then stir gently to coat the apples evenly.
Cover loosely again and microwave on full power for another 5–6 minutes, stirring once halfway through, until the apples are very tender and a light syrup forms.
Let the compote rest for 1–2 minutes before serving so the flavors meld and the sauce thickens slightly.
